National Youth Leadership Training

During the week of June 12th through June 17th we had Benjamin Martinez and Jared Navarro attend the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) at Camp Josepho.

NYLT is an exciting, action-packed program designed for councils to provide youth members with leadership skills and experience they can use in their home troops and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. NYLT incorporates the latest Fortune 500 leadership ideas and presents a fresh, vital, and meaningful training for today’s Scouts.

We asked our Scouts what they thought about NYLT:

Jared said “When I first got to camp, I thought it would be like every other summer camp but then we got straight to doing leadership activities and that’s when I knew this was going to be a new and different experience.”

Benjamin said “I was worried that the training was going to be boring, but it was done in a fun way that kept me interested. I plan to use what I learned when I become a patrol leader and senior patrol leader”.

Both Scouts said that they would be interested in returning next year as part of the NYLT staff.

The Scouts have earned their NYLT certificate and a NYLT patch that they will be able to wear on their uniform.

We encourage all Scouts that are eligible to participate to join next year’s NYLT.
